Overview: A set of fiches and exercises which are the paper version of exercises inserted into BEO Interactive, the image treatment program of the CD-ROM BEO (Belgian Earth Observation). Overview: Students will look at maps and satellite images to see how various settled parts of the Earth have changed over the past few decades. Activity - Where in the world is this?

Where in the world is this?
Where in the world is this?

Overview: The Gateway to Astronaut Photography of Earth hosts the most complete online collection of astronaut photographs of the Earth from 1961 through the present. Students will search in the collection of astronaut photos of Earth. They will try to locate the images from the Where in the world quiz.

Materials: An internet access to The Gateway to Astronaut Photography of Earth.
Time needed: One school lesson.

Teacher's instructions: Have the students go through this collection of images and videos collected by astronauts on the International Space Station from 2000 to 2003.
The students then choose a location in the world. Let them go to The Gateway to Astronaut Photography of Earth page and search for a nice astronaut photo of the chosen place. They can make a short presentation about their image in front of the class.
Let the students go in twos through the image quiz. If needed, they can always click on the title "Where in the world is this?" to skip and go to the next image.
