Can satellites measure global change ?

Global change encompasses numerous phenomenas and parameters and it can't be mesured "as such" by satellites.

However satellites carry sensors which can measure the atmospheric concentration of greenhouse gases and aerosols. Sensors are also available to record ground and atmospheric temperatures. Other instruments can appreciate the state of vegetation, land cover, snow cover and sea ice. Remote sensing also supplies data about sea surface temperature, ocean colour, solar irradiance, Earth radiation budget and cloud variables.

All together with ground data, these remotely sensed informations are of major importance to appreciate how global change affects our planet.
